How can we, as Christians, navigate figuring out God's purpose for our lives?
Scripture
1 Thessalonians 5:18
"give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."
Psalm 119:105
"Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path."
What's My Purpose?
We are so often rushed in our day to day lives and that hurriedness can lead to stress and turmoil. I find myself in a spot where I am desperately trying to find and figure out God’s purpose for my life. As a freshman in college, it seems as though life is so busy from constantly seeking out the time to study, socialize, and rest. It can get hard to seek God first when your head is swimming with worries about the future. In figuring out our purpose though, we can’t simply put God off to the side. It’s like going on a hike in a thick forest with no map, you’re going to get lost pretty quickly. Now imagine help shows up and now you don’t just have a map, but a highly skilled park ranger who is an expert on the area right there with you to help navigate the woods. God is that guide for us. When we seek out the one who orders our steps it will become easier to see what those steps are. I know what you're thinking: "Yes, but what do I do while I wait for God to guide me?" Well, I have good news my friend, God tells us a practical will He has for our lives that we can practice while we wait. In 1 Thessalonians 5:18 we are told to give thanks in all circumstances for it is the will of God for us. When we begin to open our hearts and minds to notice God's gifts all around, we will start to notice His presence everywhere ready to guide us on the path He has set for us. Psalm 119 verse 105 reminds us how we will see this path, through God's Word which is a lamp to your feet. Not a floodlight, not a shining yellow brick road, but a lamp. God will guide you one small step at a time if you simply listen and trust. He has a plan and a purpose for you, you simply have to obey. As you go about life this week pay attention to the different ways God is present and working in your day-to-day life. Take time to slow down and pray for God to light your path and bring you a peaceful, thankful heart as you await God's perfect plan. May the Lord bless you and keep you, as always JESUS LOVES YOU!🫶
